Recycling Containers
Fluorescent lamps are available in different shapes including straight, U-tube, circular, and spiral. All fluorescent lamps contain some mercury regardless of their shape. Mercury is a toxic substance that can cause neurological injury. When discharged into soil and water the mercury can be absorbed into plants and ingested into animals. Mercury is a cumulative toxic poison and needs to be harvested from fluorescent lamps before they are properly disposed. Older style T12 & some older T8 lamps, along with some types of ballasts are being phased out and will not be legal to produce after July 2012.
Now is the time to review your older lamps and ballasts and arrange for their safe disposal. Boxes are shipped flat and folded. The 4' & 8' boxes use the new VaporShield® system. (View the VaporShield Info at this link.) ConservFirst provides pre-paid return freight for all boxes & buckets. Certificates of compliance of their proper disposal will be issued when the containers are returned for processing.
